Nollywood Delegates Visit the Nigerian Embassy in Doha

During the Nollywood-Qatar 2025 Film Investment Summit, the visiting Nigerian film delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Embassy in Doha. The delegates were warmly received by Mrs. Balkisu Rufai Nura, Charge d’Affaires, along with other staff members of the Nigerian High Commission. The cordial reception reflected the Nigerian diplomatic mission's commitment to supporting the creative arts and strengthening ties with the growing Qatari film and cultural industry.

During the visit, discussions focused on enhancing the relationship between Nollywood and the Nigerian diplomatic community in Qatar, exploring innovative ways to support Nigerian filmmakers working abroad, promoting cross-cultural collaboration, and creating opportunities for knowledge and skill exchange between the Nigerian and Qatari creative sectors. The delegates also shared insights into the current trends, challenges, and successes of the Nigerian film industry, highlighting how Nollywood continues to expand its global influence.

Mrs. Nura further informed the delegates that Nigeria and Qatar are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cultural and tourism cooperation, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to foster cultural diplomacy, facilitate mutual exchange in arts and media, and create platforms for co-productions, talent development, and tourism promotion.

Among those present during the studio tour were Emeka Rollas EjezieNational President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)Uche AgboNational President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and Emmanuel Chukwuebuka IbeCo-founder of Saint Basil & Vicky Events and Co-convenor of the Nollywood Qatar 2025 Film Investment Program.

The delegates expressed their appreciation to Mrs. Nura and her team for their hospitality, guidance, and for providing a valuable platform to discuss initiatives that enhance the global reach of Nigerian cinema. The visit not only strengthened the ties between the Nigerian film community and its diplomatic representatives but also highlighted the potential for strategic collaborations that could elevate the profile of African cinema in the Middle East.

This Embassy visit followed the delegates’ earlier exploration of Katara Studios, connecting their experiences across Qatar’s leading film and cultural institutions.
